Class Schedule

White Flowers

World History is a survey course about people, civilizations, events, and issues from prehistory (before written records) to present. Studying world history helps us understand how the past connects with your life right now! Students will learn how to use a variety of sources so that they can form independent educated understandings about the subject. Students will learn how to become better note-takers as well as readers of history. At times, students will work collaboratively to unlock the “mysteries” of the past. I very much enjoy teaching history and I hope to pass along my enthusiasm for it along to you!

Art on Sidewalk

All English classes involve reading, whereas students read and understand a wide variety of literary and information texts; writing, whereas students compose a variety of written texts with a clear controlling idea, coherent organization, proper grammar, and sufficient detail; research where students are expected to know how to locate a range of relevant sources; and improving oral use of the English language.

Students will be required to read several excerpts of novels, personal novels, and informational articles during the year which will require students to complete a readers log and related assignments. These readers response logs are an integral part of responding to reading and increasing ability. The pacing of some classes may vary dependent on reading levels of students.

Students are always encouraged to read at home!

Art connects us to our world! We respond to what we see, hear, and read by creating with lines, colors, textures, values, and shapes. Our class will give students a chance to creatively explore their ideas.

NHS and Class Sponsorship

National Honor Society is a student organization whose pillars are scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Students must attain and maintain a grade point of 3.5 in order to be considered for the group. New candidates in grades 10th-12th are encouraged to apply. Forms are available from Mrs Osth or outside 613 on the bulletin board. Students in 9th grade are encouraged to work to the best of their abilities so they may be considered for membership their sophomore year.
